Asia Argento is an Italian actress and filmmaker who came from the largest family with both. She's pursued the two fields of work for herself. Her debut came when she was only nine years old, in Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni (1985). In 1988 The Church, a film by Michele Soavi The Church was directed by Michele Soavi and she played part of the character Cristina Comencini's Zoo. Later in the year, she was Nanni Moretti's daughter in Red Wood Pigeon (1989) (also directed by Moretti). Close Friends, written and directed Michele Placido in 1992, was where Asia's career took off. From playing young girls, she shifted to play more complex and mature roles. Cannes International Film Festival received the film with great awe. Trauma (1996) as well as The Stendhal Sydrome are the two other movies she made with her famous father. The Phantom of the Opera The film, made by her father who passed away and is the final of three films she's acted in. The other two were Trauma as well as The Stendhal Syndrome. The film was released in May 2000, both in Italy as well as throughout the globe. It received a prestigious prize by the Williamsburg Film festival in Brooklyn. Anna Lou, her first baby, was born to her in 2001. She directed a number of music videos. She was a part of Jean-Marc Barr's performance in The Red Siren, directed by Olivier Megaton. In 2003 she appeared with Vin Diesel and Rob Cohen's action-thriller. Asia is the creator of numerous short stories which were published in a variety of magazines.
